We are a registered charity and community support group linking people in Devon UK with a rural village in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Our special interest is in children and young people’s education and welfare. We aim to fund training for teachers and young people and to help resource schools, pre-schools and educational initiatives.

Jane Habermehl, an Early Years specialist teacher made links with a group of pre-schools in rural KwaZulu-Natal in September 2001. The Exmouth and Centocow Linking Association was formed on her return and over the years she has shared her knowledge of the pre-schools in South Africa and revisited the teachers on several occasions.

Her most recent visit was in October 2017.

As those who are supporting Jane and the projects are now from a wider area in Devon, The formal name of the Charity is now Devon Centocow Link even though the facebook page continues, for the time being, as the Exmouth and Centocow Linking Association.

Centocow is a small community of hamlets in the Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality of south west KwaZulu-Natal. It is centered on the Catholic mission and the hospital.

One of the exciting developments for Devon Centocow Link since becoming a registered charity is the potential for learning from and engaging with our partner non-profit organisations. This opportunity gives us further scope for assisting in new ventures as well as benefiting our current projects.

Nontuthuko Xaba and Nomusa Mkhungo attended the 1st Climate Change Summit hosted by the KZN Legislature on 14-15 August 2019. This was a relevant platform for us as we are aiming to involve girls to communicate the issue of 1, 5 degree celcius with legislators in National Parliament and Provincial legislature without generalising but presenting it as their truth at least at the moment.
